Share your passion for geography and inspire the world with GIS
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) are important tools that have the potential to help improve the geo-literacy, and can be used to solve many of the problems geography addresses. GIS Day is an annual event held during Geography Awareness Week, aimed to help celebrate and promote geospatial technology.
This year will be the 20th GIS Day event, it first started back in 1999, and Jack Dangermond from Esri credits Ralph Nader for being the person who inspired the creation of the event.
Today, GIS Day provides a forum for GIS users all over the world to demonstrate how real-world applications are making a difference in society. This year GIS day is Wednesday, November 13, 2019.
