University of Winnipeg and Red River College GIS Program

There is strong market demand for GIS literate graduates in Manitoba, who can find challenging careers in a wide variety of disciplines including natural resources, infrastructure, health, the environment, emergency preparedness, defense, and business geographics.

The University of Winnipeg and Red River College have strengthened their relationship in the area of GIS by providing a joint program of study whereby students are required to take courses at both The University of Winnipeg and Red River College. The joint program is intended to integrate a 4-year University of Winnipeg BA or BSc in Geography with the 1-year Red River College Advanced Diploma in GIS, effectively compressing five years of study into four years. The program has been designed to prepare students for careers in industry where practical and theoretical skills are necessary.

Students who successfully complete the entire program will receive a BA or BSc from The University of Winnipeg and an Advanced Diploma from Red River College.
