Cook’s map remains a valuable resource for understanding the history and geography of Newfoundland during the late 18th century.
James Cook was a British explorer and navigator who made significant contributions to maritime cartography. He is best known for his voyages to the Pacific Ocean, but he also explored Newfoundland and Labrador in the 1750s, charting the coastline and conducting scientific studies.
