The Geomatics Association of Nova Scotia (GANS) 2011 GIS Day celebrations are being held at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. This year’s event is a co-sponsored and co-hosted one shared with GANS and the Dalhousie University GISciences Centre.

The Sait GIS Club in Calgary is planning a GIS Day event at the SAIT Polytechnic Campus Center on November 17th 2011 from 4 pm to 7 pm.

The theme of this years event is “The Future Of GIS” and will consist of several individual speakers, a panel discussion as well as some games and door prizes. The event open to the Calgary GIS community as well as the general public.

The Department of Geography at the University of Ottawa are show casing GIS Day for geography students, the general public, government organization, and private industry in the National Capital Region. Thier GIS Day 2011 event will be held on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the Jock Turcot University Centre, between Montpetit Hall and the central library, at the University of Ottawa. Everyone is welcome. GIS Day is an event that celebrates the practice of GIS. This year’s there will Poster presentations by Geography students, GIS Workshops, presentations, and demonstrations. Date and Time: November 16th, 2011 10:00am – 4:00pm

GIS Day is an annual international event that encourages GIS users all over the world to celebrate and share thier geographic technology and talents with students, other businesses, and the public. It is a great way to help educate others how much the impact of GIS technology is part of our every day lives.
