Selkirk College is located in the Kootenay region of southern British Columbia. There are two Geographic Information Systems programs offered at Selkirk College, a one year Advanced Diploma in GIS and a four year Bachelor Degree in in GIS.

Vancouver Island University’s Advanced Diploma in GIS Applications program is offered both with either an In-Class or an Online version. In both options, students learn how to use GIS as spatial information and problem-solving tools in addressing real world problems.

The Geographic Information Systems Technology program at Red River College in Winnipeg. Manitoba consists of five basic themes: technology management, data collection, data manipulation, data analysis, and cartographic presentation. The program emphasizes understanding of the basic GIS concepts and technology as opposed to training operators of specific software products.

The two year Urban and Regional Planning Technician diploma with specializations in GIS at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario provides a chance to learn land use urban planning principles, planning laws, as well as the process and documentation necessary to create active and sustainable communities.
